Happy New Year, 2008

10.00 @We'd like to take this opportunity to wish you all a Happy New Year, full of knitting, crocheting, quilting and lots of fun. We'll be keeping all our "auld" friends and we hope to make lots of new ones this coming year. Stay safe, and come show us your projects!

Our featured quilter for this newsletter, Sandy Peterson, did exactly that last Fall!

Treasured Memories

Sandy said: "I had the inspiration from my daughter and her beautiful life and how hers has touched so many; our older daughter, who is fighting brain cancer after diagnosis in January (2007). Realizing what a blessing she is to us as a daughter when she was a child and as she grew... becoming a professional nurse, a wife and mother, and sister to three younger siblings (and aunt to their children), I wanted to put some of those treasured memories into a beautiful quilt for her.

For this beginner quilter I needed a lot of help!! The idea didn't become REAL until one day (in September or October, was it?) I mentioned at the Needle Nest I was interested in putting photos into a quilt and left my phone number. A call made to me (from Sharon N.) guided me to where to start, and the rest is history. I have had the direction, "how-to" and expertise to turn it into a beautiful quilt from Sharon Neuer, a quilter who sometimes "plays" at the Nest."

Sharon said: "Sandy was a delight to play with! We collaborated on the style and personality she wanted for her quilt, and then we chose the fabrics. She did all the work; all I did was give her some ideas, and taught her some new techniques. Every time we met throughout the Fall season in 2007, I sent her home with homework to do, and she was a delightful student - everything was always completed with a smile. The quilt was wonderfully inspiring to work on, and I am so pleased to have been a part of her Treasured Memories."

Do come by the shop with your projects...whether they are still in your head or on the drawing board, or ... GASP!!!...even completed. We'd love to see you AND hear about your projects.
